Lakhimpur-Kheri. The Forest Department has given NOC to the 11 km electric line falling between Mailani-Bankeganj station under Mailani range of Dudhwa National Park buffer zone. Due to which now the path of long distance electric trains has become easier.
The forest department was not giving NOC to RVNL between Mailani and Bankeganj station for a long time, due to non-receipt of NOC, the electrification work was hanging. Due to incomplete electrification work, long distance electric trains could not operate from Mailani Junction. As soon as RVNL has been apprised by the Railway Board about getting NOC by the Forest Department, it has also given a target to complete the work of electrification of 11 km remaining by July 31. As soon as the order was received, the officials of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) started the work of electrification on a war footing. After the completion of railway electrification work by 31st July, one pair of express train running between Mailani to Gorakhpur and two pairs of special trains running between Mailani to Lucknow from August 31, after installation of electric engine in the train, increased the speed of the trains. Travel time will take less time than before.
According to information received from railway sources, 3 days a week express train running between Sitapur Junction to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai Maharashtra) can be operated from Mailani Junction.
RVNL manager Jagannath Mishra said that the Railway Board has got time till July 31 to complete the electrification work remaining 11 km between Mailani-Bankeganj forest, which will be completed.
