Lakhimpur Kheri, January 17. The drive to update the voter list gained momentum across the district on Saturday.  Under the special intensive revision campaign being conducted on the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the enthusiasm of voters was evident at all polling stations during the "Special Campaign Day." District Election Officer/DM Durga Shakti Nagpal herself took to the field and conducted surprise inspections of the booths.

DM Durga Shakti Nagpal, along with Deputy DEO Narendra Bahadur Singh and ERO/SDM Sadar Ashwini Kumar Singh, inspected the polling stations at the Parishadiya Vidyalaya Naurangabad (Part No. 279-285) and Salempur Kon (Part No. 186-191), meticulously reviewing the arrangements. During the inspection, the DM went directly to the BLO's help desk, where she personally examined the received Forms 6 and 8, the attached documents, and the status of their processing.
The DM emphatically told the BLOs that not a single eligible young person who has completed 18 years of age should be left out of the voter list. She instructed them to verify every application on the spot and provide proper guidance so that no citizen has to make repeated visits.  Inquiring about the progress of the campaign, the DM emphasized proactive outreach, door-to-door awareness, and timely processing of applications to the BLOs.

During the inspection, the DM also interacted with the general public and informed them about the special campaign dates set by the Election Commission. She explained that those whose names are not in the voter list can fill out Form 6 with a declaration and submit it to the BLO or apply online at the voters.eci.gov.in portal, while Form 8 can be used for correcting errors. She appealed to citizens to contact the voter helpline 1950 for assistance.  Deputy DEO/ADM Narendra Bahadur Singh informed that a special campaign day will also be organized on January 18th. To make the campaign effective, the Electoral Registration Officer and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers will personally visit the designated locations. The visit schedule will be planned in such a way that no booth is missed.  Under this initiative, on January 18th, from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM, all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at their respective booths and will read out the draft electoral roll.  The BLOs will also have lists of uncollectable, absent, shifted, deceased, and duplicate voters available with them so that accurate information can be provided to the voters. SDM Sadar Ashwini Kumar Singh and Tehsildar Mukesh Kumar were also present during the inspection.
