Lakhimpur Kheri, April 12. In a major crackdown on illegal arms manufacturing in the district, the SWAT and surveillance teams, along with the Khamaria police station, jointly busted an illegal arms factory operating on the riverbank. Two inter-district accused were arrested and a large quantity of manufactured and semi-manufactured weapons and equipment were recovered.

According to Superintendent of Police Dr. Khyati Garg, on April 11, the team raided a factory operating under a thatched roof on the riverbank, about a kilometer from Ludhauni village. Jamil alias Bhurji (resident of Sitapur) and Roz Ali (resident of Isanagar, Kheri) were arrested for manufacturing illegal weapons.

Nine country-made pistols (315 and 12 bore), four semi-finished pistols, 11 barrels, numerous live and empty cartridges, and a large number of parts, including triggers, springs, and firing pins, were recovered from the accused's possession. Also seized were a drill machine, welding materials, hammers, saws, files, and other tools.

Police investigations revealed that these accused were manufacturing illegal weapons at secluded locations and temporary hideouts along riverbanks. Jameel has previously been charged with several counts of the Arms Act.
